Yellow Breeches and Mountain Creek, 10/26/22

I met up with Dale at the Mt. Holly Precision Fly and Tackle just before 8AM for a full day on the streams. We will be fishing again Thursday. It was a cloudy, 55 degrees start. Yellow Breeches was clear, 53 degrees and we did see caddis and BWO’s right from the start. I had my rod set up with caddis dries and a dropper on standby. Dale wanted to Euro/high stick and I was way down with that. I told him under the low clear conditions, I’d find suitable water. He did that much of the day. He missed two and then got into a nice one and once it hit the net which was to big for mine it was a beast of a rainbow. We kept working water switching up rods and had more small wild browns on the hook. The rain came in around noon till 2PM and Dale also wanted to do a little sight-seeing tour. So while it was raining he wanted to see the Allenberry section and walk the LeTort. Once the rain passed we hit Mountain Creek for 90 minutes. It was clear, low and 53 degrees. Not much was hatching at this time. We stuck with the nymphs and missed two and landed a brown and a rainbow. It was a great start to a two day trip. Late fall and winter fishing can’t be any better. Dates are available, you can call me directly or call any of the 3 Precision fly shops. Look for a special winter package coming up!
