Big Springs and Yellow Breeches, 10/27/22
My last day with Dale until we possibly do a winter trip together. We took off from Mt. Holly Precision Fly and Tackle before 8AM and we were on Big Springs from 8:30AM until 11:30AM. We were both surprised to see the 53 degree air since they were calling for 35 degrees. The water was clear, 52 and some midge activity. We did not see anything hatching. My plan was to show Dale another famous stream and stick some trout. He really is gifted with the log-leader high-sticking and I like fishing that way as well so I knew we could get on these tough trout. I set him up with a double nymph rig and we set off. It was less than 5 cast in and landed a brook trout. So we set off downstream and it was much the same all morning. Every run missed or landed trout. He probably ended up landed 8, missed some and we moved one in the mid-twenties. I really wanted to stay, but the wind picked up but the stream became too pressured. So we went back over to the Yellow Breeches after eating a great lunch at Keck’s Country Store. The water was the same as yesterday and we picked up three more browns. That was an amazing two day. Next week looks to be very nice so if you want some time on the stream give me a call.
