Yellow Breeches and Mountain Creek, 05/13/23
Ernest and I started at 7:30AM and we fished until 3PM because he said he had to get his 4 hour drive back home started. It was raining for the first hour, showers, then cloudy rest of the day. We hit the Breeches first. It was clear, 55 with a few caddis hatching. We only saw a couple splashy risings. Ernest brought his Euro rod and I set it up with tandem nymphs and it was game one. I took him to two beats of water and man did he get into them. Ernest caught 3 rainbows and 2 browns right off the bat. Then he nailed something big. It broke off in the air and I don’t think it would have fit in my net. It was well in the 20’s. We fished the Breeches till 1:30 and easily had 16 in the net. Next we hit Mountain Creek for just about 45 minutes. It was stained, 53 and nothing hatching or rising. Ernest quickly landed 2 wild browns and 3 rainbows. Despite the weather, yet another amazing day on the water. All our streams are on fire right now. Only days I have left in May are, the 18th and the 28th through the 31st. There still are plenty of dates in June. But I’m booking up fast.
