Yellow Breeches, 9/5/22

I picked up Bob at Mt. Holly Precision Fly and Tackle and we were on the Breeches at 8AM until noon. We knew we were going to get wet, but Bob was already in the area. To say the least, it was 71 degrees and a steady to hard rain at times. The water was 65 degrees and clear. I set a rod for nymphs off an indicator and still knew the dry/dropper would work. Even though it was raining we did see some BWO’s hatching. I held the nymphing rod in my hand for most of the time. It did make for 2 browns. They were killing the dry/dropper set. At times it was raining so hard you could not tell if it was a take or rain, but Bob ended up landing 13 browns and had almost as many lost. We both really wanted to pull out our phones because he stuck some nice trout, but did not want to get the phones wet. It was an incredible morning. The fishing is really picking up after the hot summer. If you can the time is now to plan that fall trip.
