Falling Springs/Conococheague 9/1/22
Chris called me on Wednesday and he was back in the area again. It has been about 9 years since we last fished. He usually came up around New Years so this was his first taste to the “Dog Days’. We set off to the Falling Springs around 9:15AM to catch the tricos. Once again they just would not fall, so we switched to terrestrial/droppers and had one. Then we went downstream and I set up another rod with double nymphs off an indicator. Both set-ups made for four more browns. After that, I wanted to show Chris some new water so we hit the “Jig” around 12:45 and fished to 2PM. The water is clear, OK flow but has cooled off enough that put the trout on the feed. Terrestrials killed them. Had 8 trout on the hook, two of which were high teens and landed three of them. It was an amazing morning. A little more rain and these cool nights are going to make these streams on fire again.
