Yellow Breeches, 5/31/22
I met up with Tom and Fran for a morning trip on the breeches. They both are very new to fly fishing and eager to learn as much as they could. Packing the spinning rods away, so welcome them both to the fly fishing community! I normally start of with casting lesson, but with the heat I went straight to the stream. Then later, I corrected the cast and taught them the entomology and fly pattern selections. The water was clear and around 60 degrees. There were trout rising right off the bat to caddis. I started them on dry/droppers and showed them both down & across and upstream fishing. I also explained even though we did not nymph fish with or without indicators, you can fish that the same. We had a great morning. The trout were gulping down the dropper and at times nailed the caddis dry. Between landed trout, missed trout and lost trout, Tom and Fran easily had a 25 trout morning. I have June dates available, the fishing can’t be any better.
