Yellow Breeches, 4/12/22
Met up with Phil and his daughter Maggie and her son Nate. I actually spent the day with Phil and Maggie over 20 years ago and now I got the pleasure of taking her 11yr old out on the stream. Both Maggie and Phil knew their way around a stream. But man, Nate can fish. I did a little tweaking on some casting, controlling the line, and stream approach techniques. Other than that the young man could fish. The stream was tinted, 52 degrees and we had enough tan caddis hatching to make for rising trout almost all day. Phil already had the rods set up with leaders and tippets so I finished setting them up with caddis dries and my BH green caddis as a dropper. That was all we needed to fish all day. The trout were taking the dropper at the begining and then it was a mix of rising trout and dropper takes. By lunch, we were already in the double digits of landed trout and the afternoon was much the same. They caught all wild brown trout. It was an amazing day on the water.
