Falling Springs, 4/9/22
I met up with Craig and his daughter Julia for a full day of fly fishing. We hit the Falling Spring for about 3 and 1/2 hours and then went to Birch Run around lunch. The weather man had the morning called correctly and had a little miss call on the sun that was to come out by 11AM. It was a damp 41 degrees when we started, but was not ready for the sleet and snow while we ate lunch. We talked and decided to end the day and do the rest of the trip later. It as the right call because it did not get any better weather wise. Anyway, we did great on the Falling Springs. Craig wanted me to build up Julia’s confidence and it did not take much. She was fishing a beautiful bamboo rod that handled weighted nymphs well. She cast with art. I simply worked with her on some missing techniques. We fished double nymph rigs and we landed two browns, missed 4 and had a good rainbow toss the fly while doing an aerial leap. I can’t wait to hit the water again with this fine company.
