Yellow Breeches, 09/27/24
I was waiting at Mt. Holly Precision and Dave rolled in and we fished from 8AM until noon. This time of year, I usually start a little later but wanted to beat out the rain which hit around 11AM. it was very cloudy, humid and 70 degrees. The water was clear and 56 degrees. I set up my T&T Avantt II 4wt with nymphs off and indicator. I set Dave’s rod up with dries. There was nothing hatching, but we did have some trout take off the surface. The rain started and the trout went to sub-surface feeding. I wanted trout in the net and waited till the end to perfect Dave’s cast which I did. The dries scored 9 wild browns and he had a mid-teen rainbow nail a nymph. Now time to dry off. Fall trout fishing in so fantastic and many forget that. My favorite time of year until the “tree leaf” hatch sets in.
