Antietam/Red Run, 09/26/24
I so couldn’t wait for my buddies Josh and Jeff to show up. We started at 8AM and fished until 3PM. The water was clear on both streams. Antietam was 55-57 degrees and Red Run was 53 degrees. We were greeted by thousands of midges and some BWO”S. It was very overcast and hovered around 70 degrees all day. We fished on all three of our properties. We started on the lower property for about 90 minutes. Josh and Jeff fished mostly nymphs, but I did have a streamer rod ready for action. They missed a few, rolled a brown around 20 inches and landed two 12 inch browns and a few smallmouth as well. We then hit the farmhouse section and fished all nymphs. Jeff being an amazing MD guide just sets off on his own and he is fine. He caught around twelve 15 inch browns and missed more. Josh fished nymphs off my 10’4wt. T&T Zone and he was lights out. He had a brown on for a few seconds which had that darn rod bend in half. At the end, I lost count of the 15-18 inch browns they landed. After that, we hit Red Run with dry/droppers. Well much the same, if they were not missing they were catching many 10-14 inch browns.
I’m usually asked this question. “if we book, do we only have a section to fish”. The answer is NO. When you fish with us the water is rested before your trip and the entire stream is yours during your entire stay. We are all booked solid until the end of October. We close down the streams while the fish are spawning in November but we will open back up for December. 2025 is already starting to fill up. This is the best wild trout water in the state. If you stay at the farmhouse, we have a nice section we allow fishing on your own the night before your guide trip during your stay.
