Yellow Breeches, 07/07/24

I met Kirsten and 7AM and we fished until 11:30 under mostly sunny skies. It was in the high 70’s but warmed to 88 degrees by noon. The water was clear and 64 and warmed to only 66. There was plenty of trout rising to caddis and terrestrials. Needless to stay still very fishable and Kristen showed it today. I hit the stream right with her although she needed some casting lessons. Kristin just picked up so quick while fishing dry flies. She missed five and landed two good browns. From there we kept working on more things, like leaders, fly set-ups and more ways to cast. As 11AM rolled in the trout got off the surface. I used my trusty thermometer and bottom temp. was 64-surface 67. I switched off to nymphs and it was another educational point since she had never fished well with nmyphs. Needless to say Kristen has two good releases and one more into the net. She can’t wait to come back in the fall and learn much more that we did not cover today.
