Yellow Breeches, 06/11/23
I had a real fun morning with Ralph. We met up at Precision Fly and Tack and fished from 8AM until noon. Ralph has never had a fly rod in his hand until today. I got him casting and took a break for some educational stuff. I went over leaders, tippet to flies and then some entomology. We hit the stream for about two hours. The breeches is low and clear, however still flowing in the low 60’s. I did not see much hatching, but trout were rising for terrestrials. I started Ralph with a single dry fly since he was still working on his casting. We worked on fly line management when fly fishing. Ralph did great. He missed four browns. As he said, “I’m trying to work on cast and laying the fly out and a trout takes and you say SET.” It was a great morning and can’t wait for the follow up half day. I still have plenty of June dates for trout and smallmouth trips. Simply get with me.
