Yellow Breeches, 05/16/23
I met up with Pat and Dave at 7:30 and we were on the water from 8AM until 3PM. The water was clear, 55 degrees and many caddis on the water. Trout were rising but never really committing themselves to surface feeding. Pat had some knee work down so mobility was an issue, but I I told him I have water you can fish. Pat likes to fish dries only and Dave was up for anything. I set him up with caddis and a dropper. He also had never fished a dropper before. I informed him that the dropper is not hitting the bottom. If the dry dives under you just had the dropper taken. Dave fished tandem nymphs off an indicator the entire time. We had plenty of action. Pat missed 9 and got used to the dropper. Ended up with 4. Dave missed several to start and ended up with five nice rainbows and a hefty wild brown. They both are already taking about a 2024 trip with me and we have a 1/2 day to go. As Dave told me, “ I have hired many guides, you made the top of the list”. Can’t wait to put them back on the trout tomorrow.
