Yellow Breeches, 05/15/24

I was at Precision at 7:15AM to meet Allen and Dan for a 1/2 day on the stream. I called them the day before and they we still in with the rain that fell all morning. Allen had won the gift certificate I donated for the Cabin Fever show. It could not have went to a better person. His great friend, who is going through a health issue, came along. All Dan wanted was to be able to say he fished with “Mike Heck” That was heart felt and prayers to him and I told him we will fish next year. The water was stained and 57 degrees. A few tan caddis and sulphurs were hatching, but we stuck with nymphs. Ben John was also on the water, so we came up with a game plan at the fly shop so we had water for all to have a great time. I was on the water first and saved some water for Ben. we now had an entire section to ourselves. Dan and Allen did incredible. Dan had several long distance released trout and one was a big jumping rainbow. Allen missed some as well. Still we had nets wet with 6 rainbows and 3 wild browns in the net. The “Dynamic Dou” did it again. Ben watched me land trout and I watched him. Ben has plenty of dates for smallmouth and trout. I’m already booking July dates since anglers know the water will be great. Don’t miss out this year. t was a great day and hate to say it…..Loving this rainfall. Waters will be great well into July.
