Antietam/Red Run, 05/14/24

Allen and Bob arrived at the farmhouse on Antietam at 7:30Am and we fished until 3PM. It was cloudy all morning and some light rain set in around lunchtime. The water are perfect. Antietam is flowing great, 58 degrees and Red Run is clear and 52 degrees. We saw some tan caddis and it looks like the sulphurs have started on all the area stream. Nothing was really rising, but we did see trout working just below the surface. Bob is a wet fly guy and nymphing was new so it took him a little to get the hook set going. He missed several including two I saw in the high teens. Allen likes his bamboo and it was bent hard today twice. Allen was slow to start, missing two but quickly landed a nice mid- teen brown. On Antietam, they landed 5, 6” to 12” wild browns. However, most landed and lost were 15 to 27 inches and plenty of them. We then hit Red Run, what we consider the “Nursery” water and they went on to land many wild browns and a few rainbow from 7 to 14 inches. They already said they are coming back in 2025 and as Bob told me.. The “Hype” of our stream is above and beyond of what you can expect. I don’t have many dates left, but this is what I have till we see how late summer looks then it is game on again for the fall starting late September.

Private Water Dates Available: May 30th, July 2th-5th, July 7th-3th
