New York Salmon, 10/13/23-10/18/23
I’m not big on the salmon run, but I can’t pass up a trip with five awesome friends and my Uncle I don’t get to see much. This gets me ready for Steelhead in Erie which is coming soon for guiding. The water we fish are not the big popular spots. We had some nice weather. For the most part it was cloudy and in the mid-50’s. We were rained on for 2 days, but I like that. We hit two very nice runs of salmon. I think the largest we landed was around 28lbs. We got 26 to the net and lord knows how many got off. But on this trip it is not always about the fishing. Great food, great conversations and just a fun time all around. Plus for a few of us, it is the cheap produce we get. I just finished 50lbs of sauerkraut, 20 stuffed peppers and 12 quarts of cabbage, sausage and potato soup. I can’t wait for next year. Hope I can figure out how to put a video up on my Facebook page of a nice salmon I landed on the fly!
