Falling Springs/Conococheague 6/19/22

Daniel met me at my house for a morning of fishing and some instruction. We fished from 8AM until 12:30. It was breezy, 54 at our start warming up to a sunny 71 degrees. The Falling Springs was clear and 53 degrees. This is were we did most of the fishing for three hours. I worked on his nymphing and streamer fishing. Daniel needed some help only with his dry fly cast and I did that later. I wanted to get some trout in the net first. It did not take long because terrestrial fishing is in full swing! I put him on four rising trout and “Bam” beetle did the trick for two nice browns. Worked on some tightline nymphing next and released a small rainbow. I guess my streamer box was in envy and that produced a missed brown and he landed a very nice brown. Then, I moved to the “Jig” where I new I could get out of the wind. The “Jig” is clear, a little low but very much fishable because it is still in the low 60’s. We had plenty of rising trout to midges, caddis and terrestrials. I worked on his casting and then he wanted to see how I fish Bass poppers. So we did that and got Daniel’s casting down very well. We had 2 browns missed on a beetle. It was a great morning. There is still plenty of great trout fishing left this summer. I’m open all this week and next. A 1/2 day trip morning to noon will be perfect this week with the heat. Streams are still cold and trout are ready to bite.
