Finally got Craig and his daughter Julia back out for a fun morning fishing for native brook trout. We were to fish a full day a few months back, but was to be a 50 degree day, turned out to be 30’s and snow. So we decided to pack that in and do another 1/2 day. It was cloudy and 63 degrees to started. Clouds burnt off by 10AM and it became muggy and 76 degrees. The water was clear, little low and 63 degrees. Didn’t see much hatching other than craneflies, but we had plenty of rising trout. We tied on elk caddis and my MH bead caddis and went at it. Craig and Julia were in awe of the surrounding area and the stream. We fished from 9 to around 12:30 and easily had 15 or so native brook trout. Most of them were 9 to 12 inches! I still have plenty of openings left and the trout fishing has not slowed at all. It has been beyond fantastic.
