Falling Springs and Blue Line Spring Creeks, 04/25/24
I picked up Dale just before 8AM and we set off to the Falling Springs. We fished both the lower and upper end. The water is clear, perfect flow and 52 degrees. It was a chilly and breezy start. We did not see nothing hatching so we set of with high-sticking nymphs. It did not take but 30 minutes and Dale landed a fat 16 inch brown. It was soon followed by two more big browns and one hell of a rainbow. We hit the upper end and he did great in the “Heritage” section. He picked up 1 more brown and two rainbows.
We ate a streamside lunch, then sailed off South of Chambersburg. We hit some other spring creeks I know of. It was clear and 54 degrees. At the time the wind had calmed and the sun broke from the clouds. We did not see a rise but there were abundant tan caddis, BWO’s and craneflies in the air. We kept with the same set-ups and Dale missed two. I gave his Euro rod a try and damn if I did not miss 1 and then he did land a small native rainbow. It was a great time on some beautiful water. Tomorrow will be much the same.
