Falling Springs, 05/26/24
Mark and his son Tyson showed up around 8AM at my house and we fished until noon. They are both kinda of new to fly fishing and Mark wanted me to share my knowledge with Tyson. In the end, Tyson told his dad just how much he learned about trout fishing and can’t wait to come out again. The stream was clear and 53 degrees. There was some tan caddis hatching. It was sunny, humid and the breeze certainly was blowing some ants and beetles onto the water. We did see some rising trout, but the better action was using tandem nymph set-ups. They did great despite the very light takes. Tyson could not believe just how quick you had to set the hook. Same with Mark. They missed and lost several, but still the landed 6 browns and two rainbows. That is one heck of a great morning of fly fishing! I can’t wait to be back on the water with them later this summer.
