Falling Springs, 05/26/23
Todd met me around 7:30AM and we fished until noon. It was a cool and 45 but warmed to 75 under sunny and breezy skies. The water was clear, 53 with a few caddis hatching. Todd has not fly fished much for the past 20 years. His casting was still very good, but a little shy on hook setting. Did not help that many of the strikes were so light he would lift the line and a trout was on. I showed him how to fish tandem nymph set-ups and yet another banner day in SCPA! With so many light strikes he easily ”LDR’ed” 12 trout including two over 16 inches. Todd however did get a bunch of rainbows and browns to my net. He had to be near or just over 10 landed trout including a very big brown trout. This was his first ever guided trout trip and I set a high bar. Todd wants to come back and hit more streams with me.
