Falling Springs, 05/10/23

I met up with Joe and we were on the water from 8AM until 11:30AM when he said that he was so pleased and was ready to end it. Joe was a blast to be with. He grew up in the area but now resides in South Carolina. He has fished the Falling Springs on his own with very little success. He kept telling me, “He is lucky to fly fish once a year and is really no good. I told Joe, “Don’t worry about it, I’m here to make you better”. The water was clear, 52 degrees and still not much hatching. So I just set him up with tandem nymphs off an indicator. I watched him for a little. He lost 1 and missed 7. I then explained that he was fishing a fly rod like a spin rod. So I showed him the correct way to hold the line and work the fly line off the water. He went on to land 4 rainbows and a very nice brown trout. It was a great morning. He headed back to his hotel and talked for a little. This is when he said this was the best fishing trip he had ever had. I take each trip to heart and a blessing that I can teach every angler the wealth of knowledge I’m blessed to have bee given.
