Falling Springs, 02/28/25
I woke up and started with my normal routine of coffee/ news then off to fly tying. However, I just felt ill and thought great I picked up something from last weeks show. So I saw it was sunny and 48 degrees out. I decided to take a walk with my T&T fly rod. I was going to hit my water on Antietam, but decided to see how the stocking went a month ago on the Falling Springs. Well it did the trick and full of energy. The water was stained with midges hatching, but no risers. I was really enjoying myself for 45 minutes until another fisherman decided he wanted to fish beside me. I could not even roll cast. So I gave him a heated lecture on “stream etiquette” before walking off. I did real well with tight-lining double nymphs. Can I say, I love my flies. My BH caddis and black stonefly was all I needed to land 5 browns. My neat FishTechy measured one at 15.18 inches and 1.51lbs. I still have March through May dates open, but they are filling up fast plus two big shows left. If you can schedule ahead, time to think about hitting the water with me. From June on it is starting to fill up, especially the late September- October time frame.
