Falling Springs, 02/23/23

I got at it right away this morning. I finished up 2 more of my fly box sets so I have 27 ready for the Cabin Fever show. I had to meet Caleb and pick up something for Fisher and then up to visit my mom. I got back home around 10AM, put the finishing touches on fly sets and it was time to take full advantage of this crazy warm day. It was sunny and 72 degrees when I arrived to the stream. I got suited up and checked out the water which was clear and 53 degrees. There was some BWO’s hatch and tons of midges around. I saw several rising trout as I worked my way upstream for 2 hours. I set up two dry/dropper rigs and just switched them out as I needed. I fished them off 6X and went at it. I picked up 5 fair rainbows and flat out had two catch me sleeping. They were taking my MH Baetis Snowshoe, olive CDC midge and either a cress bug or my MH Baetis nymphs for droppers. Remember some PA streams or sections of streams are closed until April 1, 2023. If you want to get out with me and learn new tricks, see new streams or fine tune your skills, it is time to plan your guided trip. See some of you at Cabin Fever or the Lancaster Fly Fishing Show.
