Antietam Creek, 03/02/23

I had to go pick up a case of books for the Lancaster show this weekend. I decided to take a little break from tying flies since to was nice out. It was sunny to start, but the clouds quickly rolled in. The water was 47 degrees low and clear. The rain we are to get Friday will be a blessing. I did see plenty of midges and some BWO’s hatching. There were some trout rising in the glassy parts of the stream. I started off fishing with tandem rigs of my BH caddis nymphs. I picked up two small rainbows and a very nice brown. I switched off to a Dette’s Black stonefly and landed 1 more rainbow. It was great to get the legs moving again since I have been hard at it tying flies. I hope to see some of you in Lancaster. I will be be doing two seminars this year. The first is on Saturday at 4PM and Sunday at 3PM. I will also have a table tying all weekend. My calendar is filling up so if you want to get on the stream with me bring your calendar.
