Steve had a gift certificate to use from me so we met at my house at 8am for a 1/2 day of fly fishing. Steve told me he was just getting back into fly fishing for trout and was not sure about his casting and other trout fishing related situations. So instead of Falling Springs, I hit the “Jig” with Steve. The water is still heavy stained, still slowly falling and flowing at 55 degrees. 55 is incredible for almost June!! We fished double nymphs off an indicator for most of the morning. Then we headed to another spot were I watched him cast dries and droppers to work on his casting and just to show Steve more stream techniques that he wanted to learn. Well, the casting was not an issue. Steve could not believe his second cast in he missed one followed by two more. We kept at it and striking the take was it. We worked it and misses became long distant releases on four trout. I had the net out for three beautiful rainbows from 15 to 18 inches which almost hit the net. We had a great time and plan on meeting next week again to fish and he will get the flies I’m tying for him. Anyone who wants to get out, I have many openings available. The fishing is more than amazing and will continue though the summer with the cool water and the rain we are getting. From here on out is prime terrestrial season.
