Conococheague 10/7/22

I fished with Paul for several hours today. He wanted to up his game and learn some new things. Also wanted to target some larger trout. So we fished big dry/dropper set ups while spending a lot of the time showing Paul how to fish streamers which he had never done before. The water was at OK flows, clear but mid-50’s. We were not the only ones fishing. At our first stop, we saw a massive adult Bald Eagle looking down on the stream. We did see a few October caddis, midges and some Slate Drakes. I hit 4 different sections today and only 1 of three was slow. We had two browns fall to a cricket and 1 on an October caddis. Had another brown on my BH green caddis and but missed at least 8 on the BH dropper. We fished two colors of the mini-game changers Fisher ties for my fly orders and that is where we had three follows and rolled 4 nice browns. I just don’t think they got into the hook, AKA short strike. Got back to the “Heck Oasis” and hung out a little. Paul told me he had learned so much that he will take to his streams. He took off and I started on tying fly orders and my baby deer showed. Still time to get a late season trip in. Winter fishing can be just as good, but I keep them to 1/2 days because the best fishing will be 10AM to around 3PM.
