Steve and Janice pulled into the “Heck” ranch and we were off for a morning of learning about fly fishing. We fished from 9AM to 1PM. It was sunny, but a little breezy at times. The air temperature was 42 and only warmed to 51 degrees. Steve had fly fished a long time ago while Janice was all new to this. They decided they wanted to do something together so they decided on fly fishing. I could not think of anything better to do as a couple. I have a great pond below my house that I’m allowed to fish and that is where I taught them how to cast. They both listened to my easy casting instructions and Steve had 40+ feet in now time. Janice quickly picked it up and was out at 30’. I then shot right over to the stream. It was clear and still in the mid 50’s. The cool weather still only had some midges and craneflies hatching and nothing rising. I had them work on high-sticking and then some upstream fishing with nymphs. We moved trout. Steve had at least 5 takes and Janice had 3, lost one and landed one. They were both so happy and will be booking again. They were so happy and love both the guiding and store staff and Precision Fly and Tackle. I can’t wait for our trip in June.
