Casting Lesson, 09/08/23
Dale met up with me at 9:30AM for a little fly fishing school. We set off for just below my house and worked on his casting for about 1 hour. Dale had a great Orvis Clearwater 5wt, which I know it can cast. We started off with his fly line and had him casting well. However, he still said he had a hard time feeling the rod load. So I put on my SA MPX and immediately he said WOW. AS I say it is all in the fly line no matter brand or price of the rod. He did get 2 bluegills and 2 largemouth bass on my little foam poppers. So he is getting a new line at Precision Fly and Tackle. After that, I normally go to the stream, but Dale wanted something else. We came back to my house and sat on the porch and went over leaders, insects and he picked my brain on organizing fly boxes and just what is needed and not needed. Dale is so excited and just wants to be on the right page when he goes out. We are getting back together later in the fall. It was a very fun morning with an awesome guy.
