Birch Run/ Conocogheague 4/4/22
I knocked out 8 dozen flies and at 11AM I decided it was time for a little fishing adventure. I wanted to see if the streams were as busy as the past few years during the weekdays. I took a quick drive and what a change. I only seen five other people parked and fishing over 15 miles of stream. I hit the “Jig” for about 40 minutes and picked up 3 rainbows on BH green caddis. Drove up to Caledonia and worked Birch Run for about two hours. Not happy to see rainbows stocked over native brook trout but it is what is it with the the PA Fish and Boat Commission. I caught 1 native brook trout, lost four rainbows and put five in the net. Both stops the water was stained and 44 degrees. My second stop, I had trout rising to midges and small tan caddis. If you want to get out, time is here the fishing can’t get much better.
