Antietam/Red Run, 12/30/24

I have several fly anglers interested in fishing the private water for 1/2 days this winter. It was not been fished since October. So I decided to check it out today. It was clear and Antietam was in the high 30’s and Ren Run was clear and 50 degrees. I wanted to fish, however upon arrival and 11:30AM it was a sunny 27 degrees. I figured I would just scout out the water. Well, after looking into just one of the runs and seeig trout from 7 to 16 inches, I put the rod together. In two cast, I had ice down to my running guide. Yeah, it was crazy, but I still fished from another 30 minutes and missed one and landed a nice 15 inch brown. With the cold, it stayed in the net and water and was released.

This water we have is booking fast for 2025 and I have not even started the fly fishing shows. . Don’t forget we have the farmhouse right on the property and with any stay we allow fishing on about 400 yards of water while you are staying.
