Antietam/Red Run, 06/29/24
The long anticipated trip finally was here. I arrived to meet Mike and Brenda for a full day on the water. Mike was not worried about him. This was all about Brenda. She still is new and wished we would work on her casting, but I only wanted her to catch. I saw what she could do and we fished nymphs and short cast all morning. Unfortunately is was 15 to 25 MPH winds all day. It was nice high 70’s under clouds all morning, then the heat and sun kicked it up to 87 degrees by 2:00PM. The water was clear. Antietam warmed to 64 degrees and Red Run was 56 degrees. She did miss some, but as I tell everyone before we walk on the prestigious water. “These are wild trout, the feed with the lightest of takes”. Still Brenda landed a nice rainbow and a “Welcome to Antietam” wild brown trout. Mike stepped in from time to time in the morning. He picked up a nice rainbow and a fair brown. After lunch it was me and Mike. He picked up a few small browns on Antietam. I showed him Red Run real quick where he landed a rainbow and a nice 16” brown. As all I have guided down there, they want another trip this year and more to follow. It was so awesome to be on the water with them again.
