Antietam/ Red Run, 08/15/24

Geoff and his son Wyatt arrive at the farmhouse around 5PM on Wednesday. We always tell people to stay at the house so you can fish some water before your trip. They did so and caught a few small wild browns on terrestrials. We set off at 7:45AM and fished both Antietam and a small section of Red Run. The weather was all sun warming from 58 degrees to 82. The water flow is perfect and we it should be a great late summer and fall fishing season. Antietam was at 57 degrees at 11Am and Red Run was 54 degrees. We did see some BWO”S hatching and a few rising trout right away in the morning. However the wild brown got off the surface and it was nymph fishing. Geoff just wanted to work with Wyatt so that is what I did. Geoff did miss 4 during the day and was so amazed of just how many browns he saw. I got Wyatt casting and taught him how to nymph fish. He missed 4, had two over 20 inches and still ended you landing 5 very nice mid teen wild browns.

I have some dates available and I will say because I have fished all over the US., “This is the best water I have ever seen.
