Yellow Breeches/ Mountain Creek, 09/06/24
It has been long overdue that Jim, Mike and I got back on the water. We tried all summer, but I was always booked. But this time Jim called and we got out for some amazing Fall fly fishing. We met before 8AM at Precision Fly and fished until 4PM. It was a chilly 54 degrees, cloudy, but turned sunny and 78 degrees. It was a two fold kind of a day. Jim wanted to see more water they could fish, plus fish. From 8AM until around 12:30 we hit spots on the lower Breeches and then Mountain Creek. I said lets not waste time, dry droppers and hope for the best. Both streams are clear. The breeches is 55 and Mountain was 54 degrees. We saw so many different mayflies and some tan caddis almost all day. We did not fish as hard as we did the “Stream Tour”. They did end up with 5 browns and a rainbow on Mountain creek. After lunch, we hit the water for about 3 more hours with dry/droppers. I told them “show and tell” is over, lets seriously go down and fish the upper section of the breeches. Mike and Jim smoked it, easily picked up 15 browns and a rainbow from hand-sized to 13 inches. It was an awesome day. Now they want to hit my private water this October.
