Yellow Breeches, 04/13/25
I was up scouting the water before 8AM and wow knew this was going to be interesting. Mike, Chase and Tom met me and we fished from 8AM until noon. It was a nice spring day. It was mostly sunny and warmed from 43 to 56 degrees. The water was tinted, good flow and 45 degrees. Mid-morning some craneflies and caddis started to bring a few trout to rise. Mike was well off, but Chase and Tom needed a casting lesson and with all the anglers, I just hit the water. We all fished nymphs off indicators and had Chase and Tom doing some very basic short line nymphing. We were lucky to get three runs while out there, but took a heck of a walk for that. The did well and missed several. Chase landed his first ever trout, Tom broke off a nice rainbow and Mike landed 3 rainbows and two browns. They all said they learned much and are coming back before they head out West so Chase and Tom can get a casting lesson and get some more fly fishing in.
