Tim and I have been waiting for his trip to come for over 1 year. We hit the water at 8:30AM and fished to around 4PM. It was a chilly springtime start of 33 degrees warming up to 47 degrees. It was sunny all day. The water flow is exceptional, tinted and was from 38 to 44 degrees. As it warmed up craneflies, midges, olives and tan caddis started to really hatch. However very few rising trout. I had a game plan going in with double nymphs off an indicator and stuck with it. In three cast, Tim hooked into what would be a nice wild brown, followed by another. I said, “Brother gonna be a fine day”. This continued most of the day. He had three big browns that popped off. My net worked OT today landing a mix of 20+ wild browns and rainbows ranging from 13 to 16 inches. Ron and I still have dates open to be on the best water I have ever seen.
