Yellow Breeches, 03/28/25

Pricilla and I finally got our for a 1/2 day for her first every fly fishing try. She is an outdoor enthusiast and has done plenty of conventional fishing. But now she is all excited to get into fly fishing. It was an overcast, calm and 50 degree day. We fished from 9:30AM until 1:30PM. The water was clear, low and 41 degrees. By 11AM there were some Hendricksons and Grannoms hatching and some rising trout. Took to about 10:30AM and Pricilla was laying out a nice 25 foot of line. We hit the water were, I usually start off with nymphs and indicators, but rising trout got me excited. She missed two and I drew back the sails and stuck to what I teach first. Nymphs and indicators and well placed cast ended up with a few missed trout, big boy break off and two into the net. For any beginner, that is a banner start into fly fishing. In June we will work on many other techniques.
