Little Juniata River, 04/21/23
Well Ben John Finally got his wish come true. We had a great group of Guys from New Jersey that we have guided for years now. They wanted to float for Smallmouth, so Ben needed 3 boats for the guide trip. He pulled Eric from the Lancaster Precision store and Justin told Ben to put me on the sticks. We arrived on the river around 8:30AM and fished to 4PM. It was sunny and high 80’s. The water was at 4.6’ and clear. We set off two guys to the rafts with both fly rod and spinning gear. Eric’s boat fished with fly rods all day. Ben’s boat fished some fly then spin gear. My raft had one fish spin gear entire trip and one fished 3/4 of float with the fly and then switched to spin gear. We moved plenty of fish and had wet nets. We landed many smallmouth, largest was 19 inches, 1 Walleye and I had a a person on my boat hook into a huge flathead catfish that broke off 20lb. braided mono. Needless to say the entire group had an amazing time and will be back with us in 2024. If your interested in a float, Ben handles the 2 person floats and then we can take up to an 8 person group. It is a day on the river you won’t forget. I know I had an absolute blast.
