LeTort, 03/17/24
I met Todd at Lancaster and he booked a 1/2 day to learn how to fish the LeTort. He has has some success with nymphs and dries, but as he said, “if they are not rising it becomes unfishable with nymphs”. I told Todd, be ready to learn how to fish streamers on these tiny spring creeks. We set off at 8AM and fished until noon. It was mostly cloudy, 57 degrees and a stiff breezy set in around 11AM. The water was clear and 52 degrees. There were a ton of midges, but nothing sipping off the surface. So, we set off with streamers. We fished a few and found the action and color they liked. I showed Todd how to fish the undercuts whether they were the banks or the weedbed types. Also how to mend the line and high-stick streamers. It is hard, while learning new tricks to stick these trout one of the hardest spring creeks. Learning all this plus learning how to strip-strike, all at the same time is difficult. Like Todd told me, “Man I would have never moved that many trout.” We moved 5 browns and had 2 that should have been in the net. One was the type you only dream of on the Letort. I can say we had a lot of fun this morning. What an awesome brother.
