Falling Springs 6/27/20
After many years, Ken called and wanted to get re-aquainted with the Falling Springs upper section only.. He also wanted to check out a few spots on the Conococheague. So we fished the springs for about 5 hours and then took a look at the “Jig”. The springs was clear, good flow and 53 degrees. The tricos are just starting and along with them we saw fish rising to midges and terrestrials. It was mostly sunny and windy out. Ken always was a fine fly fisherman and we needed that. The stream did not disappoint us today. There still are plenty of trout in the upper end, but you really need to work for them. We fished tandem nymph rigs and then dry/droppers. Ken landed 12 wild rainbows and lost 6 more!! 13 of those trout took my Gray Simple Shrimp, a cricket and san juan. That was not a great day but amazing fishing for the upper end.
