Falling Springs 4/24/21
I picked up Jim just before 8AM and we fished until 3:30PM. We were going to go longer, but he has been fishing hard for three days and looking at a 3 hour drive home. The water was 52 degrees and clear. There were plenty of midges, some BWO’s and then the Black caddis started late morning and trout got on the rise. We had then entire stream to ourselves. Jim caught several nice brown trout, biggest around 16 inches. He also took several off the surface. The surfacing trout were picky, but the proper fly was chosen to get them. Jim ended up landing around 10 and had that many more just slip off the hook. The magic patterns were my Simple Shrimp, Mike’s BH Green Caddis, Mike’s CDC Black Caddis and my Mike’s Baetis Snowshoe Emerger. Oh forgot, we tossed around one of my sons streamer patterns too. Fishers Bunny stream netted one and we had 8 more follows as well. Needless to say Jim wants a dozen tied by my son. It was a fantastic day on my childhood waterway.
