Falling Springs 3/29/22

Well the weather man got it a little wrong today. I was to be a cool and slight breeze. It was windy and 19 degrees when Howard and I meet up for a day on the Falling Springs. Needless to say we talked about it and fought the freezing weather till 11:30am and we will do the rest of the trip in April. I have done a bunch of cold weather trips, but this is the first time I seen all the guides on the fly rod full of ice here in SCPA. The stream was clear and 51 degrees. There was not a bug to be found hatching. Howard listened to my presentation at Lancaster and was very interested in the spring creeks, approach and fishing cress bugs and shrimp. While we finished some hot coffee, I tied on a cress bug and my simple shrimp. That was all we fished over some water in the upper sections of the stream. The wind was horrible to cast in. You may think that it was not a good day, but Howard stuck seven trout from one very hard stream to hook up on.
