Falling Springs 3/18/22
Collin called me last minute and luckily I had the day open for him. He wanted to learn the Falling Springs, parking access and most of all how I approach at catching these picky trout. We started at 7:45AM and fished to 4PM. It was 46 degrees warming to a nice 69 under sunny skies. The water was clear and 52 degrees. As the day went on we saw rising trout and abundance of midges with some little black stoneflies and a few BWO’s. We fished in town for about 2 hours, but or main focus was the upper section. Collin was a fine caster and that is a big plus. I set up my rod with nymphs and eventually his rod became the dry/dropper rod. Later in the day, I did show Collin how I fish streamers in a spring creek. Collin had quite the day. He missed 4 on a BWO Parachute and 1 off the midge dropper I had underneath it. The trout were really hitting on my shrimp, BWO nymphs and liked the new twist I did to my BH pheasant tail pattern. Collin ended up landing seven brown trout and had another eight more, hooked good, but these wild trout know how to throw a hook. It was a great day on this small spring creek.
