Falling Springs, 12/09/23

I took a quick break from a 20 dozen fly order and hit the stream for about an hour. I hit the stream around 11:30AM under overcast skies and near 50 degrees. The water was clear and 52 degrees. Needless to say it was a quick fish and I was not hunting for them. I found a few rising trout to midges and that was good with me. I ran some SA Absolute Trout 6.5 leader off my tippet ring, tied on an #18 gray CDC midge and went at it. I had a few looks so I added a Light Gray Yong Special as my dropper and picked up two small rainbows. That made my day and I wrapped it up and went home to tie more of this order. I still do a lot of guiding during the winter. I keep to the best times of day and that’s why I will do 1/2 days. If you a see a warm day and want to get out just give me a call. I will be down at Precision Fly at the Beaver Creek location on Saturday 16 doing a presentation on “Winter Trouting”. It starts at 11AM.
