East Antietam, 4/6/22

I got a text late this morning from a friend who has been fishing and not having much luck. Tanner has been seeing a bunch of trout, but they are just hard to catch. I told him give me about 20 minutes to finished up a fly order and I would meet up. We got together for about two hours and Tanner started fishing with his spin rod and I had my fly rod. The rain did bring the streams up a little, but they are still in perfect shape. The water was in the mid 40’s and plenty of midges and a few caddis were flying around. I could see trout nymphing so I tied on my Mike’s BH green caddis and dropped a BH cream caddis 12 inches off it. I quickly picked up 2 rainbows and 4 brown trout. At this point, Tanner has done nothing. I told him, “Drop the spin rod” and I went into guide mode. So he did and I showed him some basic techniques. Needless to say after he picked up the roll cast, Tanner landed 2 rainbows and 2 browns. For me, that was more exciting than me catching anything. The streams are fishing better than I have seen in years. I still have a few days in April, May and June are starting to fill. Call me and book a trout guide trip you will remember for ages to come.
