Antietam/Red Run 04/23/24
I know I was just on the water for a day and 1/2 of guiding. But this is how much water we have so we can rest spots. Bruce and Bob are in for two day and we fished water today that has not been fished all season till today. The water was the same as yesterday. It did come up to 51 degrees. We did not see many bugs so we stuck with nymphs and streamers. I started off in Red Run to be closer the spring heads. I have fished with Bob and Bruce before. They know what they are doing and I just spread them out and let them go to town. I explained to them do not “quick fish” the runs and pools there are a ton of trout in them. Bruce said I was setting a “High Bar”, but in his first run he landed 9 wild browns. This went on the entire morning. By lunch they easily had 30 in the net. Mostly browns and a handful of wild rainbows from 10 to 14 inches. Our afternoon beat was our lowest property on Antietam. We wanted to go after some big ones. They easily caught another 15-20 wind browns and rainbows from 10-15 inches. We tried some streamers and Bruce rolled a 22+ inch brown and Bob broke off a 20+ rainbows as well. I do have some June dates and early July will be just as good. The I’m open form late August-October trips. Can’t beat this world class water.
