Yellow Breeches and Mountain Creek, 05/05/23

I had such a delightful day with Tracy, Randy and their son Griff. We fished from 8AM until 3Pm when they had to go. We started on the Yellow Breeches under sunny and mid 40’s air temperature. Water was stained and we did not see and hatches or rising trout. I set them all up with double nymph rigs and indicators and we went at it. Tracy and Randy are very good fly fisherman. Griff is new so I made it easy for him, but then said we will work on things later in the day. I was on a trout hunt. In 45 minutes we had 7 in the net and it stayed wet all day except for the lunch I provided. They had to be close to 20 by lunchtime. They also wanted to see other spots to fish so we hit another spot on the breeches and landed six more. All the trout were a nice mix of wild browns and rainbow. We ended with 90 minutes on Mountain Creek. It was stained, but we did see some caddis and a few rising trout. I worked with Griff and changed Tracy and Randy up to dry/droppers which they have not tried much. It was a success. We got 2 big trout that rolled off the nymphs and Tracy and Randy landed a few nice wild browns. What a great day. So many stories told and they are planning more trips with me and a 1 on 1 with Griff.
