Falling Springs and Conococheague, 8/22/22
Time Freeman’s, “Cool Water Outfitters” buddy Mike D. showed up to fish with me this morning. We fished from 8 to 11AM under mostly cloudy skies. It was humid and 74 warming to 80 degrees. I wanted Mike to stick a few before the Trico hatch so I headed the the Falling Springs lower section and he missed a nice brown and landed a nice rainbow. Had the terrestrial/dropper set up for both them. Around 9AM we looked at the Trico hatch and they were still 20 feet above the water. Told Mike, “Not waiting, we headed to the Jig.”. We were greeted with rising trout. The water was clear and 63 degrees. We had a few rising trout and tried the terrestrial/dropper, but I switched to a caddis and dropper and it was money. Mike had 10 solid brown trout, 1 brook trout and a nice rainbow. It was an awesome morning with an awesome guy. Can’t wait to do it again. I’m still booking summer trout trips. Fishing has not slowed down at all.
